The 24th International Street Theater Festival Ana Desetnica 2021 will be held under the slogan Do we still know how to be together?.
The idea of this was born from the experience of 2020, when it seemed that after the (too) long suspension of public life due to the epidemic, we can hardly wait to reunite, but it turned out that in the period when they forbade us physical proximity, they also found social distances and simply alienated themselves from each other! Before this year’s festival, therefore, we ask ourselves and you a question: can we still endure a short time in the company and closeness of people we do not know, or do we want it at all (yet)?
An attractive, informative and genre-diverse art program will be hosted in 11 cities from 25 June to 4 July (Maribor, Kamnik, Gornja Radgona, Nova Gorica, Šoštanj, Ljubljana, Krško, Novo mesto, Sežana, Logatec and Novo mesto), on the streets of these you will be able to see free performances of more than 70 excellent artists from Slovenia, Italy, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Chile, Great Britain and Colombia.
For the first time, part of the program will be streamed live – on channel SIMS (synchronous interactive multi stream), which allows viewing the event (backwards) through 4 different perspectives and a playful experience of changing them, thus offering the user a different, attractive and unique street art experience, which he can (co)create himself.
In Ljubljana (June 30-July 3), the festival will take place along the Ljubljanica, near Cukrarna and Fabiani bridge. The program will include the final selection for the International Award of Excellence urbANA ljubljANA 2021, interdisciplinary art spectacle River of Seven Names, never before seen robotics spectacle and marching theater performance Dante 453, which we held on the 700th anniversary of Dante Aligheri’s death, created by the Ana Monro Theater in co-production with our partner festival Approdi (ITA).
A special novelty is the P2P program, in which we will offer three artistic groups/creators the option of t. i. peer to peer learning method, which involves the exchange of knowledge and experience between ”equal” participants, and you will be able to see their performances in the city center again from 4 to 7 July.
For the fifth year in a row, we will create the ambience of the Living Room at the festival venue, which will also host a bookstore.
