Performance for special venues



This street theatre show in a light and entertaining way thematizes and interprets the housing issue in Slovenia, which is particularly pressing and worrying in the capital due to high rents and the prevalence of short-term rentals.


It is a local adaptation of the play of the same name by the Swiss artist, director and leader of the world-famous Panorama Kino Theater group Tom Greder, which premiered in Switzerland in 2024 and addressed the topic of coexistence of German, French and Italian ethnic groups in the country.

The Balcony is a story about a day in the life of the residents of an apartment building and the everyday reality of living in a subalpine country, told and depicted by three couples, each living in their own apartment. 


An elderly man, a retiree and the owner of the apartment, talks to his late wife every day as he waters the flowers on the balcony, observes the events in the apartment building and the surroundings, and the changes that life brings. Things get a little complicated when his daughter returns from a trip, which disrupts his single everyday life. 


The second balcony belongs to two students – roommates, him and her. Their lives are quite eventful: she is dedicated to studying and finding a clear path to a “good” life, while he is more relaxed and forgetful, which introduces considerable unrest into their otherwise friendly relationship. 


The third apartment is converted into an Airbnb for short-term and profitable rental. Two female colleagues move in, each with her own life concepts and dreams. 


Relationships develop among the residents over the course of the play – both between couples living together and between neighbors, with their communication taking place in a somewhat “retro” manner: in person, from balcony to balcony. Part of the action also takes place in the courtyard, in front of the entrance to the block.
